Hello all,

Firstly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Clerk McGuffin - have a good one!

And onto business: I'm checking in again as regards theatre trips and wondering if any Dark Clerks are up for get-togethers?

According to DWM, there is going to be a production of "Jingo" by Collingwood RSC at the New Theatre Royal in Portsmouth between Tuesday 12th and Friday 15th July 2011. It's a bloody long way for me to travel for a play but if anyone can vouch for this theatre group, I'd be happy to look into it since "Jingo" is a personal favourite book of mine. :) They've already done "Wyrd Sisters" with, apparently, much success. (Box Office number 02392 649000. Ticket prices Stall and Dress Circle 12 GBP (concession 10 GBP), Upper Circle 8 GBP (concession 6 GBP).)

I'm a bit up-in-the-air as regards forward planning for the next few months because I'm waiting to start a new job following the dreaded CRB check (dreaded because it takes a week or two, not because I've done anything naughty... heheh). I am hoping that I'll still be able to go see the STC's "The Man Who Was Thursday", being staged in Abingdon between May 11th and 14th. (My friend has told me that I'll no doubt be on another drawing spree once I've seen/if I see that since there are still "Midsummer Night's Dream" sketches all over the place in my house even after two months... LOL.) Is anyone else planning on going...? I've heard a couple of maybes, but no definites. I'm *hoping* I'll be able to make more definitive plans within the next fortnight for that but I've still not booked anything as of yet since I'm not wholly sure when I'll be free... and having just moved house, I'm not even sure where I am right now, never mind what I'll doing next month! :D

Finally, according to the STC's website, the new Discworld novel "Snuff" looks likely to be adapted by our favourite Tyrant and is due to be staged between November 15th and 19th. Make sure you're all free for that. :)

Also, rather off-topic, but I'm planning on making a trip to London to see Kevin Spacey in Shakespeare's "Richard III" some time during its run - more because I want to see "Richard III" on stage than to see Spacey,
but I guess he's an added bonus. Anyone wanting to join me is most welcome. :) Shakespeare is wicked-awesome-cool after all.

Best wishes,
~Clerk Jurious

RE: Fan Art at DWCon12

I know we're only in the second month of 2011, but I recommend His Lordship's spies servants ensure that they monitor the activity of the "Discworld Convention" conspirators carefully. (You can follow their Clacks messages HERE.) There are plans in the making for the 2012 Convention and I have already stuck my nose in an asked for a fan art display (like the one they are doing as part of "Nullus Anxietas", the Australian Discworld Convention, in April this year.)

(PS: If any Clerks in Fourecks will be present, I would love to know if my sketch of His Lordship sells in the fan art auction, to which he will be donated.)

I'd also like to report that, since dressing my house-mate's dog in Wuffle's Wincanton winter coat, Wuffles has become a mini-celebratory at my dog training school. Progress, yes. ;) Wait until they meet Mr Fusspot.

Yours faithfully,

So... anyone going to Wincanton end of April...? Not 100% sure I'll have the time/money to attend but I'm hoping to. :)

RE: "Discworld" Events 2011
A notification of some dates that are to be put into your 2011 calendars (which will be the year of the Complicated Monkey!). The Spring event in Wincanton will take place on the weekend of the royal wedding from Friday April 29th to Monday 2nd. (Yes, we're hijacking the royal weekend!) Accommodation is going fast so if you are hoping to go, get something booked! (I'm not sure whether or not I can make it but I've booked a room anyway.)

Wadfest leaflets were also being passed around in Wincanton with dates August 19th-21st. This takes place near Retford up in my neck of the woods, the Midlands. I'm hoping to go to this but haven't booked anything yet. If anyone would like to bunk-up on a camping pitch, let me know. (As an amateur camper, I'd appreciate some company!) Either that or I could have a few people to stay and we could be "visitors" and drive there every day... but I guess that'd ruin the fun of it all.

Also, a bit OT, Stephen Briggs' Studio Theatre Club are performing Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" this January between 26th-29th. I've managed to find a friend to drag along to see it so I can finally see these guys in action -- and it gives me an excuse to visit Oxford and be a tourist the following day.

Also, artwork of ze master. 'cos I can't get him out of my head =>.>=:

RE: Hogswatch Event in Wincanton, November 27th - 28th 2010

Clerk Jurious would like a "room mate" to join her in Wincanton later this year since she has never been before and would like someone who is vaguely familiar with the goings-on at this event. If you want a lift down, I can pick you up in my little black car (it's not pinstriped, but we could remedy that...).

RSVP ASAP!

Clerk Jurious

I wish to report that despite 2 years notice of this Discworld event, I am still completely under-prepared as always.

Clerk MacGuffin and I have concluded that the only thing to do therefore is to turn up and have fun and go fudge the pre-planning.

Very much looking forward to seeing you all in 1 weeks' time.

As you may very well be aware, the date of the 2010 Discworld Convention is growing ever nearer. In this light, I have to ask you another important question:

WHAT WOULD YOU PROPOSE THE DARK CLERKS DO THIS YEAR?

I am awaiting your replies with curiosity,

Yours &c.,

++++TO: ALL DARK CLERKS++++

On the 27th of August, this Year of the Happy Goose, the Discworld Convention is scheduled to once again take place, until its culmination on the 30th of the same month and the same year.

I have been in contact with a few of you already, regarding proposed Dark Clerk activity at this event.

It is now my aim to make a comprehensive list of all those of you whom plan to attend. To attain the desired result, it would be constructive for you to respond to this missive with "Aye" or, as it happens, "Nay".

Awaiting your reply,

R. Drumknott
