To: Rufus Drumknott,
Patrician's Place,
Ankh Morpork
One of your esteemed colleagues signed me up a few days ago at a strange Island outside the disc, but which had doors taking me directly into the city. So I was a trifle concerned to notice others writing letters of application and being offered big titles, or even a salary, post my acceptance.
I am sure the paperwork is immaculate and that my post is secure. I did vote correctly, as requested, and cheered enthusiastically when our esteemed leader was vindicated, and I supplied some small intelligence on the matter of the names; so I have begun to earn in some slight way the post I had been offered. However, I appear to have forgotten to confirm my job title. I, of course, do not expect remuneration, as the honour of serving is reward enough.
Yours faithfully

Dear Clerk Tig,
There appear to be few problems in the matter of registration and paperwork. I should still like to have the name of the Clerk who signed you up, and, indeed, the Department you wish to work in.
Yours &c.,
R.D.

I believe it was a person wearing a badge with 'merrymoll' on it.
I do have evidence of my employment, in the form of a security pass (Lord Vetinari's Dark Clerks). It is made out to Tricia aka tig.
I am happy to perform any humble tasks as required, as long as the job description is inversely proportional to its importance.
your faithfully
tig

Dear Clerk Tricia Tig,
Due to administrational problems, I have had to review the List of Dark Clerks and spotted that your Department is missing.
Since you mention that you should like to do humble tasks, I thought perhaps the grand Department of Proper Filing would be an idea.
Yours &c.,
R.D.

This sounds ideal for one of my humble talents. I do not yet know how to 'file' but am sure I will get the hang of it before his Lordship notices me.
Yours extremely gratefully

It is nothing extremely difficult, or Clerk Brian would never have learned it. However, it needs to be done well. You may walk a day with Clerk Hammond in the Library to pick some things up.
Yours &c.,
R.D.
